Have you recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease or Mild Cognitive Impairment? Have you been feeling depressed? Do you live in the Baltimore area?

Researchers from the Johns Hopkins University Department of Psychiatry are recruiting for an unpaid study to investigate whether psilocybin can help relieve depression in people with early Alzheimer's Disease when given in a safe and supportive setting. Psilocybin is a naturally occurring psychedelic substance found in some species of mushrooms.

Volunteers for the study will also receive free counseling and techniques to help improve their mood. This study involves a substantial time commitment and includes 2 in-person screening meetings, 1-2 meetings per week during the study for eight weeks, and then 3 follow-up meetings during the 6 months after treatment. Because of this time commitment, we generally do not consider individuals who live outside of the Baltimore area.
